Millions Of Russian Payment Terminals Affected By Cyberattack

Million of payment terminals manufactured by Russia's online cash register manufacturer Evotor stopped working on December 30, was reported by IT Army of Ukraine on December 31, 2023.

In major Russian cities' stores and shopping malls, card payments have reportedly ceased, and cashiers are unable to tally the day's earnings. The Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation deems this a significant economic setback for the aggressor.

Earlier in December, 2023, It army of Ukraine announced a successful attack on the servers of Bitrix 24, a service used by such large Russian companies as Rosneft.

Most of the servers in the CIS were reportedly affected. According to hackers' official Telegram channel, more than 40% of users of CRM systems, including Rosneft, a Russian oil company, had suffered from the attack.

The IT Army of Ukraine, also known as IT-армія України in Ukrainian, emerged in late February 2022 as a voluntary cyberwarfare group aimed at countering digital intrusions into Ukrainian information and cyberspace following the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
