Defenders and the law enforcement score two points in the global fight against ransomware with new decryptors being released for the Tortilla variant of the Babuk ransomware and Black Basta ransomware.
The decryptor for the Tortilla variant - released by Cisco Talos - has been built upon the leakage of the ransomware source code in 2021, whereas the German company Security Research Labs (SRLabs) exploited cryptographic weaknesses to break the encryption of the Black Basta ransomware. SRLabs - which dubbed its decryptor "Black Basta Buster" - noted that encrypted files may be recoverable depending on the file size.
